This heavily damaged Dutch marquetry card table had lost its central panel to water damage.
After reconstructing the marquetry design the replacement marquetry panel was fitted and toned in before French polishing and waxing.

An early 19th century carved gilded mirror missing its focal ornament. After extensive research and digital prototyping a replacement classical urn was carved from lime wood.
The replacement sections were water gilded in the traditional manner before toning in to match the existing gilding scheme.

This early 19th century sofa had suffered extensive woodworm (common furniture beetle) damage to the maple legs and beech frame.
The timber was consolidated with Butvar B98 before fibre-glass rods provided the much needed strength. The repairs were then polished to match the original surface.
After woodworm treatment the sofa was re-upholstered in the traditional manner.
Brown furniture Conservation

This heavily damaged Olive-wood pilgrims model required extensive conservation and restoration with both structural repair and replacement of missing mother of pearl sections.
Ivory sections were replaced using cast epoxy resins and the full treatment is entirely reversible inline with the ICON code of ethics.

Marble Conservation
Marble can be conserved and restored using specialist materials if the damage is not too great. After completing the marble restoration, cleaning and conservation of the historic surface was completed before specialist wax finish was applied.
The replacement gilding here was 23.25ct gold leaf carefully matched to the original gilding, applied in the traditional water gilding manner.
Finally the new gilding is toned in to match the original surface using a protective size coat.
Polychrome and gilding Conservation
Polychrome surfaces can be restored using specialist materials and techniques similar to the original craftsman's approach. After completing the gesso restoration, cleaning, restoration and and conservation of the historic surface was completed before a specialist wax finish was applied.
Finally the new surface was toned in to match the original surface using a protective size coat.
